About This Role

Salford City Academy is seeking an exceptional leader with a commanding presence and an unwavering commitment to the highest standards of behaviour. This is a role for someone who can confidently manage complex and challenging students, set crystal‑clear expectations, and model the calm, consistent professionalism we expect across our academy. You must be confident leading behaviour in high‑pressure situations and be a strong, visible presence within our isolation room (Reflect), ensuring students are re‑engaged, supported and held to the highest standards.

We are looking for a strategic thinker who can shape and implement a brand‑new approach to Alternative Provision. You will lead with clarity and purpose, designing systems, structures and curriculum that ensure our most vulnerable learners receive the support, challenge and opportunities they deserve. You will bring deep expertise in behaviour leadership, and the skill to coach, develop and inspire others to deliver disruption‑free learning every day.

Relationships matter here. You will build strong, trusting connections with students, families, staff and external agencies—always aligned with our REACT values of responsibility, excellence, aspiration, commitment and teamwork.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to make a transformational difference: to establish a high‑impact AP model, drive exceptional behaviour standards, and ensure every child at Salford City Academy learns in a calm, purposeful environment where they can thrive.

If you are driven, resilient, and passionate about shaping behaviour culture at a whole‑school level, we would love to hear from you.

Why choose us?

High achieving school – verified by Ofsted and through our GCSE results.

Salford City Academy is highly ambitious and very successful 11- 16 academy which is part of the United Learning Multi- academy Trust. In February 2022 Ofsted judged the academy to continue to be a good school citing ‘Pupils at Salford City Academy said that they enjoy coming to school to learn. They feel happy and safe at school.’ Leaders have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour. Pupils behave well in lessons and around the school. They are polite, courteous and well-mannered. Leaders do not tolerate any derogatory behaviour. Pupils respect each other’s differences.’

Academic results at the academy have improved significantly from 2019. We were delighted to celebrate continued excellent results and this summer we continued to achieve within the top two schools in Salford. Results in Maths and Science place us in the top 20% of all schools in the country.

What do we offer

Disruption free learning

We believe passionately that students should learn in a disruption free environment. Our expectations of behaviour are very high, and we believe that all of our students are capable of meeting them. We accept no excuses for disruption to learning or poor behaviour. We have a very clear and well-structured behaviour system which supports this.

Excellent continuous professional development and collaboration

Staff are supported professionally to ensure they can do that and are valued and recognised for their work. We have an extensive professional development programme within the academy, where staff are involved in reflective practice, coaching, weekly deliberate practice and CPD focused on academy, subject and individual priorities.

United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resources, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. Our approaches within the academy support this so that our main focus can be on planning and delivering high quality teaching and learning. For example, all behaviour and detentions are managed centrally by the Inclusion Team. This allows teachers the time and capacity to deliver high quality lessons and supports their workload and well-being

Staff will form a dynamic team who are supportive, friendly, and dedicated to instilling the qualities of Responsibility, Excellence, Aspiration, Commitment and Teamwork in the next generation of children, preparing them for successful, fulfilling, and enjoyable adult lives.

Competitive salaries and comprehensive staff benefits
