About This Role

At UWC Dilijan, we focus on more than just exam preparation; we aim to empower students to make a significant impact on the world. We are currently on the lookout for a distinguished University Counsellor to join our team in August 2026, playing a pivotal role in guiding our students to become changemakers.

UWC Dilijan is one of the 18 United World Colleges and serves as a diverse international boarding school located in Armenia. Since opening in August 2014, our student body has grown to over 220 individuals aged 16 to 18, representing 80 nationalities as they pursue the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

This is a remarkable opportunity for a professional who recognizes that university placement is the final step in a transformative educational journey. We seek a mentor capable of balancing strategic decisions with a deep commitment to each student's individual goals.

If you are an experienced professional eager to utilize your international network and dedication to student achievement in a prestigious institution, we invite you to assist us in developing the frameworks that will support our students' success long after their time at UWC Dilijan.

At UWC Dilijan, we uphold the belief that education is “a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future” (UWC Mission Statement). Our nurturing learning environment is designed to foster the intellectual, moral, emotional, social, spiritual, and physical growth of our community members, in accordance with UWC educational principles and values.

UWC Dilijan is also part of a broader network of organizations focused on transforming Armenia, including the IDeA Foundation, the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, and the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology. In this role, you will capitalize on UWC Dilijan's unique position to tap into a powerful network of innovation and philanthropy, offering students exceptional opportunities for diverse career paths.

Key responsibilities include:

Guide students through the global higher education landscape, providing expert advice on selection, testing, and application strategies that resonate with their identities and goals.

Offer personalized coaching, both individually and in groups, to help students navigate complex financial aid and scholarship systems, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their potential.

Collaborate with the DP Coordinator to assist students in selecting IB courses that ensure a challenging yet strategically aligned academic profile for their future aspirations.

Support unconventional options like gap years, summer courses, and entrepreneurial pursuits.

Represent UWC Dilijan internationally, fostering strong relationships with university admissions offices through conferences, fly-in programs, and high-level networking.

Organize and host visits from top-tier international universities, facilitating engaging conversations between global recruiters and our diverse student population.

Enhance student testimonials and school profiles to ensure our students’ unique stories resonate with the world's most selective institutions.

Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of essential school documents like transcripts and profiles, ensuring they effectively represent our students to global admissions committees.

Maintain our engagement with International ACAC and the UWC advisors' network, keeping the school at the forefront of global admissions trends and ethics.

Lead faculty training sessions on crafting impactful references and understanding various international selection processes.

Serve as a crucial liaison among the school, parents, and the university ecosystem, ensuring all parties are informed, aligned, and motivated.

Manage a records and reporting system for the Board of Governors and Senior Leadership Team, utilizing data to continuously improve our placement success rates.

Engage actively in the life of our residential community, mentoring students, supervising CAS projects, and participating in outdoor and service programs.

Demonstrate visible leadership within the school community by contributing to staff meetings and school assemblies.
