About This Role

Job Description: PYP Homeroom Teacher

The main objective of this position is to craft and facilitate engaging, inquiry-driven educational experiences that foster the academic, social, and emotional growth of students. The chosen candidate will establish a supportive and stimulating learning atmosphere that aligns with the principles of the IB Primary Years Programme, while encouraging students to cultivate curiosity, independence, and a lifelong passion for learning.

Responsibilities


Design, prepare, and deliver impactful lessons that conform to the PYP framework, catering to the varied needs of students.


Collaborate with the PYP Coordinator, specialist educators, and the Learning Support team to plan Units of Inquiry.


Motivate culturally diverse classrooms by offering engaging and challenging learning experiences for every student. Employ a range of teaching strategies, resources, and technology to facilitate differentiated learning. Remain attentive to the needs of students for whom English is an additional language.


Ensure a safe physical and emotional classroom setting through established routines, respectful communication, and effective behaviour management.


Foster a positive and cooperative working relationship with the Teaching Assistant (TA), ensuring clarity of roles and shared responsibilities in the classroom.


Engage in school events, committees, and community initiatives.


Organize or assist with extracurricular activities, clubs, or educational excursions as needed.


Maintain regular communication with parents about student progress and well-being.


Participate in ongoing professional development to refine teaching practices.

Student Assessment and Feedback


Create and administer formative and summative assessments that align with PYP learning goals.


Offer timely and constructive feedback to aid student learning and personal development.


Keep accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements.


Effectively communicate with parents regarding their child's development and academic progress.

Collaboration and Professional Development


Work in close partnership with the Primary Principal and PYP Coordinator to ensure successful curriculum implementation.


Engage in planning meetings, PYP workshops, and professional development events.


Collaborate with fellow educators to encourage interdisciplinary learning and the holistic growth of students.

Classroom and Learning Environment


Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom atmosphere that promotes inquiry and active engagement.


Utilize a variety of resources and digital tools to enhance engagement and create meaningful learning experiences.

Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education or a Bachelor’s degree in English with a PGCE.


Prior experience teaching within the IB Primary Years Programme is essential.
Strong classroom management abilities and the capacity to foster a nurturing and inclusive learning space.


Experience in integrating technology to enrich teaching and learning.


Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.


Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, international school environment.
A positive attitude and a readiness to embrace challenges.


A genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for both learning and teaching.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00

Recruitment Process


Panel interview including the Primary Principal, PYP Coordinator, and Employee Success Manager (30 minutes).


Trial lesson (60 minutes) or teaching footage submitted by the candidate.


Final interview with the Head of School (20 minutes).

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
