About This Role

Bahlool British International School, a distinguished British international institution in Baghdad, is on the lookout for seasoned, British-trained educators to become a part of our newly established Sixth Form (A Level).

We are thrilled to announce the launch of this A Level department and are seeking dedicated teachers to join our pioneering team. You will play an essential role in shaping the curriculum, planning academically, and setting high standards from the outset.

Curriculum

The school adheres to the Pearson (Edexcel) British Curriculum for both IGCSE and A Level. Familiarity with teaching Pearson / Edexcel specifications is highly preferred.

Subjects Required

IGCSE & A Level:

• Chemistry

• Business

• Physics

• Biology

• Chemistry

• ICT / Computer Science

• English

• History

• Geography

Candidates are welcome to apply for one or multiple subjects based on their qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional teaching for IGCSE and A Level (Pearson / Edexcel)

• Design and prepare lessons in accordance with Pearson specifications and assessment objectives

• Assist in the establishment and growth of the new Sixth Form Department

• Contribute to the development of schemes of work, curriculum planning, and internal assessments

• Ensure students are thoroughly prepared for external examinations

• Monitor student progress and offer academic support as required

• Uphold high standards of classroom management and professionalism

• Collaborate effectively with senior leadership and Sixth Form staff

• Engage in staff meetings, training sessions, and Sixth Form initiatives

Person Specification

• British-trained teacher with a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)

• Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject area

• Demonstrated experience teaching IGCSE and/or A Level

• In-depth knowledge of Pearson / Edexcel exam boards

• Strong communication and organizational abilities

• Passion for contributing to the establishment of a new Sixth Form

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a growing team

• Experience in an international school or Sixth Form setting is beneficial but not mandatory

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
