The American School of The Hague (ASH) is on the lookout for a part-time/full-time Speech Language Pathologist for the Elementary School for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Start Date: August 1, 2026.

Location: Wassenaar, located on the northern side of The Hague

You hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Speech Language Pathology and have achieved a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). You are affiliated with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or a similarly recognized international organization. With at least five years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist in an American, Canadian, or international educational context, you demonstrate substantial cultural awareness. Your background includes working with Primary School students, giving you a comprehensive understanding of their developmental requirements. You are skilled at offering adaptable service options, whether in small groups, classroom settings, or one-on-one. You actively promote and model inclusive practices in all your interactions.

The Role: The Elementary School serves approximately 220 international students. In this capacity, you will report to the Student Support Director and collaborate with various stakeholders, including parents, teachers, medical professionals, school administration, and the student support team. You will share important information, address concerns, and offer necessary guidance to staff. You will oversee operations within a specified budget and may undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the Student Support Director. As a committed member of the school community, you will engage in ongoing professional development opportunities. Above all, you will exemplify a commitment to our school’s mission, vision, professional standards, and core values.

The Work: You will conduct standardized assessments of students’ Speech, Language, and Communication capabilities to identify their needs, formulate accurate diagnoses, and create effective treatment plans and strategies that ensure student success. This includes addressing areas such as articulation, fluency, voice, and both expressive and receptive language. You will develop therapeutic strategies and identify suitable assistive communication tools or devices to enhance students’ communication and learning. Your services will be data-driven, regularly monitoring and documenting progress toward individual goals within a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. You will create Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and SMART goals tailored to each student’s unique needs, collaborating with school-based support teams. Moreover, you will coordinate and lead team meetings and processes—such as testing, screening, and parent conferences—to share evaluations and collaboratively develop treatment and support plans. You will maintain thorough records, including progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, and screening results, ensuring compliance with all necessary standards.

Strong and open communication is vital to your role. Frequent interactions with parents will be essential as you provide insights into their children’s social, academic, and behavioral progress. Your input will be valued in discussions revolving around addressing student needs. If you have hobbies or interests outside of education, such as music, athletics, or the arts, we encourage you to bring those to ASH, as you will have the chance to participate in after-school activities that benefit our students.
