Helston Community College, part of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, are seeking a dedicated Food Technician to join our thriving Design & Technology/Food Department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting students’ learning and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our food rooms. The role is part-time for 2 days per week [Thursday 0815-1615 and Friday 0815-1545], and we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
About the Role:
As our Food Technician, you will:
Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for practical food lessons
Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised environment, following all hygiene and health & safety requirements
Support teachers during practical sessions, helping students to work safely and confidently
Assist with displays, demonstrations, and wider department activities
Contribute to the positive ethos of the College by supporting student learning and engagement

About you:
We are looking for someone who:
Is enthusiastic, reliable and highly organised
Can work efficiently in a busy environment
Has good communication skills and enjoys working with young people
Has experience of working in a kitchen, catering, or food preparation environment [desirable, but not essential]
Understands food hygiene practices [training can be provided]
