About This Role

Location: Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Qingdao, Tongxiang, Yantai, Hong Kong.

Duties:

A. Knowledge and Understanding:
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the ICT curriculum as defined by the National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB.
- Demonstrate a solid grasp of ICT subject material.
- Respond effectively to student inquiries related to the subject and be aware of common misconceptions and errors.
- Be knowledgeable about all secondary school curricula and assessment frameworks.

B. Planning and Setting Expectations:
- Define clear objectives for teaching, including content, lesson structures, and sequences that cater to the subject matter and student demographics.
- Establish high yet realistic expectations for student learning and motivation, setting specific targets based on prior accomplishments and experiences.
- Identify students with special educational needs and those who are gifted and talented, knowing how to seek support to provide tailored assistance. When necessary, implement and maintain Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

C. Teaching and Managing Student Learning:
- Deliver effective instruction to whole classes, small groups, and individuals, ensuring that teaching goals are met while keeping students engaged and challenged, and maximizing instructional time.
- Utilize teaching methods that engage students, fostering intellectual curiosity, effective questioning, clear presentations, and appropriate resource use.
- Uphold high standards of student behavior, promoting discipline through targeted teaching and nurturing positive, productive relationships.
- Encourage positive behavior, enhance self-esteem, and support independent work among students to improve their education and development in an ICT context.

D. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess the degree to which learning objectives are achieved, using these evaluations to guide future teaching methods.
- Grade and monitor students’ classwork and homework, providing constructive oral and written feedback and setting goals for student improvement.
- Understand the expectations placed on students in relation to the National Curriculum, KS4, and KS5 when applicable.

E. Relations with Parents and the Wider Community:
- Be proficient in preparing and delivering informative reports to parents.
- Recognize that learning extends beyond the classroom and create opportunities for students to link their education to real-world and work-related scenarios.
- Acknowledge the importance of working collaboratively with external agencies.

F. Managing Own Performance and Development:
- Take responsibility for personal professional development and stay updated on educational research and advancements in the subject area.
- Be aware of professional responsibilities regarding school policies, guidelines, and practices.
- Serve as a positive role model for students in conduct and appearance.
- Reflect critically on one’s own teaching to improve effectiveness.

G. Managing and Developing Staff and Other Adults:
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues, including co-teachers, specialized educators, and support staff.

H. Managing Resources:
- Select and utilize textbooks, equipment, ICT, and other teaching resources effectively to achieve educational objectives.

Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and teaching certification or license with strong subject expertise.
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in an educational setting.
- Support the values of Yew Chung.
- Display a genuine passion for teaching students.
- Demonstrate a committed approach to teaching across different year levels.
- Show dedication to teamwork.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
