About This Role

Teaching middle school and secondary students in Mathematics, utilizing the Cambridge, Cambridge IGCSE, and IBDP curricula with a comprehensive approach to student growth.

Responsibilities

- Deliver high-quality instruction across all areas of the Middle School/Secondary Math curriculum.
- Motivate and challenge students to enhance their understanding and knowledge of Mathematics.
- Tailor lessons to accommodate the diverse learning needs of all students.
- Build relationships with students that foster motivation and facilitate learning.

Middle School and Secondary

Our Middle School serves students aged 10 to 13, while the Secondary School caters to those aged 14 to 18, with class sizes ranging from 20 to 25 students. The English proficiency of our students includes ESL learners, with the majority reaching near-native fluency by Form 3. We prioritize both vertical and horizontal collaboration among teachers and expect a commitment to fostering students' character development, critical thinking skills, academic success, community service, and overall well-being.

We view early adolescence—also referred to as junior youth—as a significant developmental phase marked by distinct needs and immense potential. Our Middle School programs are designed to engage students’ interests, cultivate their capacity for service, and promote meaningful social interactions with peers and older youth. We support students in achieving proficiency across various academic disciplines while also nurturing their spiritual insight, communication skills, and a solid moral compass to inform their decisions.

Adolescence, or youth, begins in Secondary school, a time when students exhibit growing capabilities, vigor, and enthusiasm. We believe that youth have the potential to drive positive change and their expanding capacity for meaningful service is notable. Our secondary program encourages students to take greater ownership of their learning and personal growth while further developing their intellectual abilities alongside the qualities and perspectives necessary to contribute positively to society. Through a robust academic curriculum that prepares them for the IGCSE exams in Form 4, the IB Diploma Programme in Form 6, and their future studies post-graduation, we aim to equip them for success.

Working Hours & Schedule

Teachers are expected to work 36 hours per week, which includes up to twenty 45-minute teaching periods, various duties, and planning time. We observe approximately 30 school and public holidays throughout the year, including Winter and Chinese Spring Festival breaks, along with around 50 days of summer vacation. Monthly working Saturdays often focus on community engagement and enrichment activities, enabling us to extend holidays while fulfilling contact day requirements.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual base salary, including a housing allowance, is around US$44,000 after tax, with potential increases based on experience. This figure excludes the annual travel allowance, New Year’s bonus, pension contributions, and a yearly re-enlistment bonus equivalent to one month’s salary. Additionally, the Macau government provides a professional development subsidy for teachers of at least US$600 per month. Altogether, the total after-tax compensation for teachers is approximately US$58,000.

Benefits include local healthcare coverage, discounted tuition for up to two dependents wishing to enroll in the school, internal professional development opportunities, and assistance with apartment hunting, including a one-week hotel stay.

Requirements

- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. (Master’s or Ph.D. coursework is highly regarded but can only partially fulfill the specific requirement set by the Education Department. Other teaching qualifications and certifications are valued but not mandatory for Middle School or Secondary teaching positions in Macau.)
