About This Role

At Southern Cross School, which is part of Ambition Community Trust, we are on the lookout for dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistants to become part of our inclusive and supportive team.

We are in search of skilled Teaching Assistants who thrive in collaborative environments and possess a comprehensive understanding of various teaching, learning, and behavior management strategies. The ideal candidate will integrate into our enthusiastic team and actively contribute to inspiring students to achieve their best while fostering a nurturing learning atmosphere for every child in our school.

The role of a Pathways Teaching Assistant / Keyworker involves assisting disengaged students either in the community or at home, within the settings that best cater to their educational requirements. This position also requires collaboration with schools, families, and relevant agencies to help remove obstacles to learning for these pupils.

According to the ACT Employee Contract, your full-time equivalent (FTE) position is based on a commitment of 36 hours per week; however, actual working hours will be 35 hours per week, for which you will be compensated.

Please be aware that this role necessitates driving, so you must have a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and business insurance to successfully fulfill the responsibilities.

Key responsibilities will include:
• Collaborating with various class teachers to ensure exceptional teaching and learning experiences.
• Providing mentorship to students on a one-on-one or group basis.
• Accompanying groups on educational trips.
• Assisting with assessments and documenting learning progress.
• Partnering with teachers to develop learning materials and environments.
• Ensuring a safe and supportive space for all learners.
• Facilitating opportunities for every learner to achieve their potential, regardless of their abilities.
• Engaging with hard-to-reach students and their families to provide educational support and beyond.

The ideal candidate will:
• Hold qualifications equivalent to National Qualifications Framework Level 3, such as NVQ 3, A/AS levels, or similar.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
• Exhibit strong communication skills and the capacity to build positive relationships with both children and adults.
• Be adept at using relevant technology and equipment.
• Approach the role with a positive, proactive attitude.
• Be dedicated to the happiness, well-being, self-esteem, and progress of every individual at the school.

You will be an integral part of the school community, assisting wherever necessary and supporting our most vulnerable pupils. We are looking for candidates who can recognize the potential in all our exceptional learners and develop provisions that help them thrive.

Payroll Information (If selected):
- Staff members receive their salaries on the 15th of each month, reflecting the hours worked during that month.
- For full-time staff, in alignment with the ACT Employee Contract, the FTE hours will be 36 hours per week, but they will only be required to work—and compensated for—35 hours per week.
