Newham College London, now integrated with NewVIc Sixth Form College, stands as the foremost post-16 education provider in Newham. The Role:
Please be aware that this position is a Fixed Term Maternity Cover, set to last until 31/01/2027.

We are in search of a proactive and organized Learning Resource Centre (LRC) Supervisor to ensure the effective operation and ongoing enhancement of our LRC services throughout the College. Our LRCs are vibrant, inclusive, and inviting spaces that provide support to thousands of learners annually.

As the LRC Supervisor at our East Ham and Stratford campuses, you will lead a team of LRC Assistants and guarantee the provision of a welcoming, inclusive, and resource-rich environment. Your responsibilities will include overseeing daily operations, managing staff schedules, and contributing to events, workshops, and initiatives aimed at promoting literacy, digital skills, and student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily functions of LRC spaces, ensuring high-quality services, well-maintained resources, and a conducive learning atmosphere.
- Develop and oversee staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and alignment with team workflows.
- Assign tasks to LRC Assistants and assess service standards, outcomes, and expectations.
- Provide effective supervision, support, and professional development opportunities for LRC Assistants, including one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations.
- Organize and engage in a series of LRC events, campaigns, and literacy-focused initiatives.
- Assist in the delivery of LRC Inductions and Academic Skills workshops, contributing to planning, facilitation, and evaluation efforts.
- Offer regular customer support at the LRC counters, ensuring excellent service to students, staff, and visitors.

Our ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification (including GCSE English and Maths or equivalent).
- Experience in a library, LRC, or educational support environment.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience, including performance monitoring.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to prioritize effectively.
- Proficient IT skills and the capability to assist others in utilizing digital and online learning tools.
- Confidence in conducting workshops or training sessions for both large groups and individuals.
- A collaborative mindset for working effectively with colleagues across various departments and campuses.
- A dedication to providing an inclusive, student-centered service.
