Head of English Vacancy

We are looking for someone who understands that ambition and strong foundations go hand in hand. We want our pupils to leave school with the English skills, confidence and independence they need for further learning, employment and adult life.

You will be joining a department with a strong commitment to our pupils and their English development. We are looking for someone who can build on and continue the good work already established, while bringing their own ideas, expertise and enthusiasm to the next stage of the department's development. You will have the opportunity to work with colleagues to refine and develop curriculum pathways, teaching approaches and outcomes, ensuring that the department continues to respond effectively to the changing needs and aspirations of our pupils.

Working in a specialist autism school requires creativity, flexibility and a willingness to understand how pupils learn best. You will work closely with teachers, teaching assistants and other professionals to develop approaches that are accessible, engaging and purposeful. You will be supported to develop your understanding of autism and specialist pedagogy; previous experience of working in a special school is not essential.
