About This Role

Foster and promote the principles and standards of excellence outlined in the GEMS Core Values.

Deliver the specified curriculum with a thorough and current understanding of the subject matter. Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students, utilizing suitable materials and a classroom environment tailored to various learning preferences.

Provide written documentation of lesson planning and preparation upon request. Maintain comprehensive records of curriculum outlines, yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, and assessment strategies.

Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.

Instruct assigned students based on their unique needs, employing effective teaching methods suited to diverse abilities, including late arrivals, ESL learners, students with lower academic performance, and those who are gifted and talented.

Assign and evaluate student work, while assessing, recording, and reporting on their academic progress and achievements. Use these assessments to ensure the curriculum aligns with each student's individual requirements.

Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing media and technology within the classroom.

Encourage the overall progress and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational issues. Communicate with external stakeholders when appropriate, such as officials from the Ministry of Education.

Engage in appraisal, Performance Management procedures, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Collaborate with colleagues in the development and preparation of teaching materials, resources, curricula, and pastoral arrangements.

Take part in, and lead when suitable, the school’s co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences.

Oversee and supervise appropriate student behavior, devising and implementing strategies to promote self-discipline and manage any disruptive actions.

Exemplify and promote cultural awareness and understanding while nurturing a passion for learning.

Assist in the organization and planning of school events and functions, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award days.

Regularly communicate with parents, advocating for the GEMS philosophy and core values while keeping them informed about their children’s progress, all while ensuring the confidentiality of student information.

Demonstrate initiative and dedication beyond the standard work hours when additional commitment is required.

Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.

Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by direct and indirect reporting line managers or supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
*Estimated range based on regional data averages.
