English Teacher + Special Education (Middle School)
About This Role
Awsaj Academy is a specialized institution that caters to over 700 students from Pre-3 to Grade 12, addressing a range of diverse learning needs and challenges. While most of our students exhibit mild to moderate learning difficulties, a portion has specific medical diagnoses that result in more complex learning challenges. Being the singular school of its kind in Qatar, Awsaj Academy is esteemed as a regional leader in education for students with disabilities.
We provide high-quality academic, social, emotional, and research-based programs through a responsive curriculum designed to meet our students' unique needs and abilities. Our multi-tiered support systems ensure that students receive essential behavioral, therapeutic, and academic interventions, empowering them to thrive in further studies, higher education, employment, and community life.
Awsaj Academy holds accreditation from international bodies and offers a High School diploma that aligns with American educational standards. For those students for whom the diploma pathway is unsuitable, we provide a specialized pathway for special needs.
English serves as the primary language of instruction across subjects, with Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Qatar History being taught in Arabic. Over 98% of our students are Qatari and English Language Learners. Our classes are coeducational, highlighting dual-language strategies.
Located in the vibrant and innovative Education City of Qatar Foundation, Awsaj Academy features outstanding teaching and learning facilities.
Our students exhibit a wide array of learning challenges, necessitating a dynamic, adaptable, and responsive learning environment. Classrooms maintain a teacher-student ratio of about 1:10 and are supported by specialist resource teams such as Empower and Nurture, comprising teachers, instructional assistants, and interventionists.
A robust multi-disciplinary team, which includes therapists, psychologists, and specialists, underpins our holistic approach. Additional staff members include educational counselors, a school nurse, and behavior specialists, while our dedicated Arabic and Islamic Studies team supports students across the learning spectrum.
At the heart of Awsaj Academy is the belief that every child is valued and belongs. We are committed to never giving up on our students, honoring and addressing the challenges they encounter throughout their educational journey.
Awsaj Academy is situated within Qatar Foundation (QF), established in 1995 by a decree from His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar. QF is chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and is dedicated to transforming Qatar from a carbon-based economy to a knowledge-based one by harnessing human potential.
