About This Role

We are seeking to hire an Education Welfare Officer to become a vital part of our committed team at Co-op Academy Leeds, where we are dedicated to ensuring that every student reaches their full potential through the promotion of regular attendance. We believe in the transformative power of education and are devoted to offering every student the chance to succeed, recognizing that attendance is essential to this mission.

In the role of Education Welfare Officer, you will play a key part in leading the strategic initiatives that promote school attendance, fostering a culture in which all students and their parents/carers feel empowered to tackle obstacles to learning. Your ability to establish strong relationships with both children and adults, combined with your patience, sense of humor, and eagerness to engage in school activities, will be crucial to your success.

If you are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of students, this position provides an opportunity to enhance school attendance, assist students in overcoming difficulties, and support their overall growth.

At Co-op Academy Leeds, we aim to cultivate an environment where everyone can thrive, both academically and socially. We encourage our students and staff to set high goals, demonstrate resilience, and adopt a growth mindset, even in the face of challenges.

Teaching and learning are central to our mission; we believe that a robust learning culture is foundational to our success. We focus on providing regular, meaningful, and beneficial professional development for our staff, much of which is designed and delivered by our dedicated in-house Teaching & Learning Team. We expect all members of our community to actively engage in this culture of sharing and continuous improvement.

Our values are deeply rooted in the principles of the Co-op Group, shaping our behaviors.

Self-help: We strive to be resourceful – tackling tasks independently and responsibly.

Self-responsibility: Each individual is expected to act responsibly on the academy grounds and within the local community. We take charge of our own learning and aspire to become independent learners.

Equality: We take pride in our diverse academy, welcoming students from various backgrounds. It is vital that we treat one another with respect and acknowledge our differences, ensuring that everyone has equal opportunities to succeed.

Equity: We aim to recognize and celebrate the strengths in each other, rewarding all forms of achievement fairly.

Democracy: We will share our ideas to contribute to the success of the academy.

Solidarity: We believe in the power of collaboration, achieving more collectively than we could as individuals.

As part of the Co-operative Group, we are guided by the Co-op values, which are woven into the very fabric of our Academy. We strive to embody these ethical values in all our actions, which are our 'Ways of Being':

Succeed together
