Mendip Green Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic, highly skilled and committed SENDCO to lead the strategic development of SEND provision across our school.

Location: Mendip Green Primary School, Greenwood Road, Worle, Weston‑super‑Mare, North Somerset, BS22 6EX

Contract: 0.6 FTE

Salary: TMS/UPS + SEN 2 allowance

Mendip Green Primary School is a large school for 4-11 year-olds in the Worle area of Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset. The Role

As SENDCO at Mendip Green Primary School, you will play a vital leadership role in shaping and delivering high‑quality SEND provision. Working closely with the Headteacher, senior leaders, staff, families and external professionals, you will ensure that inclusive practice is embedded across the school and that pupils with additional needs make strong progress.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership of SEND.
  • Lead, develop and evaluate the school’s SEND policy, provision and strategic direction.
  • Analyse assessment and progress data to identify patterns, needs and effective interventions.
  • Teaching, learning and inclusion.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers to embed SEND needs into curriculum planning.
  • Promote inclusive practice for pupils with SEND, EAL and SEMH.
  • Support and implement behaviour strategies for pupils with additional emotional or behavioural needs.
  • Provide professional guidance, coaching and CPD for teachers and support staff
  • Monitor the quality and impact of SEND provision and interventions.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers.
  • Liaise effectively with external agencies and professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date SEND record.
  • Champion safeguarding and child protection.
