Technology Teacher - Food

We are looking to appoint a
dedicated and enthusiastic Technology Teacher with a specialism in Food to join
our successful Technology Department. Food and Hospitality and Catering are
popular and successful subjects at Shevington High School, with Hospitality and
Catering being one of the highest-performing subjects in the school last year.
We are looking for someone who shares our ambition to build on this success and
provide an excellent experience for our students.

As Food and Hospitality and
Catering continue to grow in popularity, there is also the opportunity for a
suitable candidate to take on additional responsibility for leading and
developing this subject area, working alongside the Curriculum Leader for
Technology. A TLR may be available for a candidate who demonstrates the
experience, skills and ambition to take Food and Hospitality and Catering into
the next stage of its development.

The Technology Department
currently delivers the Technical Award in Hospitality and Catering and a Technology
and Food rotation at KS3.There are 2 other specialists in the team who deliver GCSE
Design and Technology and GCSE 3D Design. The successful candidate will have
strong subject knowledge and experience of teaching Food at KS3, together with
the knowledge and skills required to deliver Hospitality and Catering
effectively at KS4. Our curriculum is well established and comprehensively
resourced, with detailed schemes of work, lesson materials and knowledge
organisers in place. We are looking for a teacher who will make effective use
of these resources while bringing their own expertise to the classroom and
continuing to develop their practice through collaboration with colleagues.

This is an exciting time to
join Shevington High School. The Technology Department is very well resourced,
with our practical Food teaching space refurbished last year. The department
also has access to its own computer room, while all students have their own
device to support research, independent learning and coursework-based tasks. A
full-time Food Technician provides dedicated support with resourcing, ordering
and the preparation of lessons, as well as supporting practical sessions. The
department also plays an active role in our primary transition programme,
providing opportunities for younger pupils to experience Food and Technology
before joining the school.

The successful candidate will play
an important role in developing our students’ knowledge, skills and enthusiasm
for Food and Hospitality and Catering. Alongside delivering high-quality
classroom and practical teaching, we want someone who will look for
opportunities to enrich students’ experiences through trips, extracurricular
activities and wider opportunities that bring the subject to life.

responsibilities include:

• Delivering
  high-quality Food teaching at KS3 and Hospitality and Catering at KS4.
• Using and
  adapting the department’s established curriculum and resources to meet the
  needs of all students.
• Supporting
  students to achieve strong outcomes through effective teaching, assessment and
  intervention.
• Working
  collaboratively with the Technology team and Food Technician to provide
  high-quality practical learning.
• Contributing to
  enrichment, extracurricular opportunities within the department.
