About This Role

Job Purpose:

The aim is to provide exceptional learning opportunities in the Performing Arts that ignite creativity, self-expression, and individual development. The Performing Arts teacher will play a vital role in the holistic advancement of each student by embodying the values of Always Learning, Caring, One Team, and Excellence, while also embracing the IB learner attributes and NCfE vocational Principles.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching and Learning

  • Design, prepare, and deliver exemplary Performing Arts lessons that align with the IB Philosophy and NCfE standards.
  • Cultivate creativity, confidence, and self-expression through stimulating and inquiry-based activities in drama, music, dance, and performance.
  • Tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse abilities and learning styles, ensuring that every student reaches their full potential.
  • Promote student reflection, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for the performing arts both inside and outside the classroom.

Curriculum and Assessment

  • Participate in the creation and evaluation of the Performing Arts curriculum to ensure it meets the PYP frameworks and NCfE vocational standards.
  • Develop authentic, process-driven assessment tasks that recognize student creativity and monitor their progress in skills, knowledge, and conceptual understanding.
  • Implement a variety of formative and summative assessment techniques consistent with PYP practices.
  • Keep precise records of student achievements and contribute to reports, portfolios, and performances.

Collaboration and Community

  • Collaborate with the Arts Team to weave Performing Arts into units of inquiry and transdisciplinary learning.
  • Engage in academy activities such as productions, assemblies, concerts, and community arts projects.
  • Establish positive connections with students, parents, and colleagues to nurture a culture of care and inclusivity.

Professional Growth

  • Show a dedication to Always Learning by participating in continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends in arts education, IB advancements, and technology integration.
  • Foster a culture of Excellence by sharing insights, mentoring fellow educators, and pursuing ongoing improvement.
