About This Role
Deliver the designated curriculum while showcasing thorough and current knowledge of the subject matter.
Design and implement engaging lessons aimed at inspiring students. Develop and employ suitable materials and classroom settings that accommodate diverse learning styles.
Provide written documentation for planning and preparation when requested. Maintain comprehensive records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and other relevant information.
Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently.
Instruct students according to their unique needs by applying suitable teaching methods tailored to different abilities, such as late entrants, ESL learners, students with lower academic performance, and those who are gifted and talented.
Assign and grade student work. Evaluate, document, and communicate the academic progress and achievements of students, utilizing assessments to ensure that the curriculum is tailored to meet individual student requirements.
Exhibit proficiency in incorporating media and technology within the classroom.
Support the overall development and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational issues.
Engage with external parties when necessary, such as officials from the Ministry of Education.
Take part in appraisal and performance management processes, as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities.
Collaborate with colleagues in the creation and enhancement of teaching materials, resources, study programs, and pastoral care arrangements.
Contribute to and, when suitable, lead co-curricular and extra-curricular activities within the school. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the exchange of ideas, resources, and experiences.
Oversee and promote safe and appropriate student behavior. Develop and execute strategies to encourage self-discipline and address disruptive conduct.
Model and advocate for cultural awareness and understanding while instilling a passion for learning.
Assist in organizing and planning school events and functions, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies.
Maintain regular communication with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values, while keeping them updated on their children's progress while respecting confidentiality.
Demonstrate commitment and initiative beyond standard working hours when tasks require additional effort.
Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.
Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by direct and indirect reporting managers or supervisors.
