MLP School Governor - Voluntary Role

Magna Learning Partnership was formed in April 2017 and is a group of primary and secondary schools and one sixth form college in Salisbury and the surrounding area. The core aim of the Partnership is to improve and further develop the quality of education provision for the benefit of all young people in the area, by creating a sustainable education partnership that, through the achievements of its young people enhances the reputation of education across Salisbury.

Currently the Trust comprises: Amesbury, Amesbury Archer, Bemerton St John, Morgan’s Vale and Woodfalls, Old Sarum, Pembroke Park and The New Forest Primary Schools, Sarum Academy, The Trafalgar School, Wyvern St Edmund’s Learning Campus and Salisbury 6th Form College.

The governors within Magna Learning Partnership come to us through a variety of routes and with a range of different backgrounds, skills and experiences, but they are all volunteers who work together for the benefit of the academies and are the link between the school/college and the community it serves. We are currently seeking new governors and would be delighted to hear from anyone who has:

• a desire to contribute to and represent the community
• the ability to work well with others
• the ability to look at issues objectively
• the confidence to ask questions and join in debate
• a willingness to support and enhance the values and ethos of the school

What is the Academy Governance Committee’s role?

The Academy Governance Committee (AGC) is appointed by, and reports to, the Magna Learning Partnership Trust Board. Its role is to provide focused governance for the academy at a local level. It does this by supporting, challenging and encouraging its academy in four principal areas: setting and ensuring clarity of vision, values and ethos for the academy in line with those of the Trust; meeting statutory duties; contributing to academy self-evaluation and development; ensuring the voices of stakeholders are heard.
