This position can be offered on either a part-time (.5fte) or full-time (1fte) basis alongside teaching duties.
The ideal candidate will show a strong dedication to student support and wellbeing, align with the school's mission, and possess the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower students as they navigate their post-secondary options.
What will your daily tasks involve?
The selected candidate will:
- Provide personalized academic and career counselling for senior students, helping them to identify pathways that align with their strengths, interests, and aspirations.
- Support students and their families throughout the university application journey, including research, personal statement writing, essay crafting, and navigating decision-making across various global systems (such as those in the Netherlands, UK, USA, Canada, and Europe).
- Enhance student wellbeing by delivering comprehensive guidance and collaborating with pastoral and academic teams to ensure holistic support.
- Organize and lead university fairs, career days, workshops, and information sessions, in addition to coordinating visits from university representatives and guest speakers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with universities, career organizations, and external partners to broaden student opportunities.
- Keep meticulous and confidential records of counselling sessions, student progress, and university outcomes, using this information to improve programme development.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a clear understanding of post-secondary planning, requirements, and timelines.
- Collaborate with leadership and teaching staff to align academic pathways with future planning and support school-wide initiatives.
- Stay informed about global trends in higher education, admissions processes, and career development.
- Uphold the highest standards of ethical practice, confidentiality, and safeguarding in all areas of the role.
What qualifications and experience will you bring?
The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Education, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field, alongside a recognized teaching or counselling qualification.
- Experience in an international or IB school environment, with a deep understanding of global university application procedures.
- At least three years of experience in academic or career counselling.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills that foster strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to effectively manage a significant caseload.
- A deep commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion, and personalized support.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
- Familiarity with counselling platforms (e.g., MaiaLearning, Unifrog, Cialfo) is preferred.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with best practices in counselling and higher education.
- The ability to instill confidence, independence, and informed decision-making in students.
- Teaching experience in History, Geography, or INS would be beneficial.
