Birch Narrows Dene Community School is seeking applications for the position of Grade 3 Teacher. Nestled in the beautiful Northern Saskatchewan, the Birch Narrows Dene Nation is home to approximately 750-800 residents. Our school accommodates students from Grades N-12 and features a gym with changing facilities, a multi-purpose room, a library, home economics area, a PAA room, as well as science and computer laboratories, complemented by various resource spaces. At BNDCS, we are dedicated to nurturing a learning community that emphasizes supportive relationships and celebrates Dene/Cree/Michif cultures, languages, and traditional knowledge. Additionally, we have a cabin that facilitates Land-Based education, which incorporates Indigenous perspectives into the academic framework, aiding students in their educational success.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Education degree or higher from a recognized institution; eligibility for a Saskatchewan Professional “A” or Provisional Professional “A” teaching certificate.
  • A deep understanding of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples, with the ability to integrate their culture, values, and history into the curriculum.
  • High expectations and standards for academic achievement.
  • Strong classroom management skills, including the implementation of effective positive behavior management strategies.
  • Ability to accommodate and include students with special needs by adjusting teaching methods and curriculum as required.
  • A commitment to completing the school year.
