Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate that is recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (International teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)
Desired Qualifications
While it is not necessary for candidates to meet every qualification, relevant experience and a commitment to community-focused education are highly valued.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both spoken and written)
- Experience in facilitating Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
- Background in teaching within a bilingual or ESL setting
- Familiarity with cross-cultural or northern Canadian educational environments
Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience in differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Familiarity with contemporary assessment methods to guide learning
- Skills to foster a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)
Relationships & Student Engagement
- Proven track record of establishing respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Background in promoting student well-being and engagement
- Participation with students beyond the classroom setting, when appropriate

- Experience in collaboratively planning instructional and student support
