Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging lessons, materials, and content aligned with the Saulteaux Curriculum for Yellow Quill First Nation.
- Employ various learning methods (including digital, visual, and kinesthetic) to cater to different learning preferences.
- Establish a safe, supportive, and stimulating atmosphere where students feel encouraged in their educational pursuits.
- Conduct baseline assessments and perform both formal and informal evaluations to track student progress.
- Evaluate student performance and prepare reports for parents and staff.
- Grade assignments, assessments, and tests, offering constructive feedback and emphasizing strengths to foster learning.
- Maintain open lines of communication with students, colleagues, stakeholders, and parents or guardians.
- Apply behavior management techniques, maintain behavioral records, and monitor student development.
- Stay updated on relevant policies and standards, particularly those concerning child protection and safeguarding.
- Participate in continuous professional development and collaborate with peers in professional learning communities to improve educational practices for all students.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education degree.
- Valid Professional “A” Teaching Certificate.
- A strong appreciation for Saulteaux Culture is preferred, or a willingness to learn.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to innovative and flexible teaching strategies that address the diverse needs of students.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and engage actively with the community.
