Brighton College Vietnam is seeking to hire a Director of Performing Arts to join our institution in August 2026.
ROLE SPECIFICATION
The Performing Arts are a vital part of the everyday experience for students at Brighton College Vietnam. The Director of Performing Arts will be in charge of the comprehensive Performing Arts curriculum across both Drama and Music for the Prep and Senior Schools. This position also manages all co-curricular performing arts programs as well as productions in both Prep and Senior Schools.
Every year, our students shine in a diverse array of musical and theatrical performances, from casual concerts to large-scale productions and captivating artistic events. Our dynamic theater complex includes a 500-seat auditorium and dedicated Dance and Drama studios, fostering an inspiring atmosphere where creativity thrives and confidence develops. Through these opportunities, students are encouraged to express themselves, collaborate with empathy, and enjoy the process of artistic exploration.
A critical component of this role is to enhance student engagement in the Performing Arts while further cultivating the faculty as a lively center of creativity and a significant contributor to the broader College community.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Performing Arts faculty consists of both Drama and Music teams. The Drama team features a Prep Drama Specialist Teacher, a Drama Technician, and a Performing Arts Teaching Assistant. The Music team is composed of a Head of Music, a Music Teacher, and a Music Technician.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership and Department Development
- Foster a positive team environment.
- Provide line management and support to the Head of Music, Prep Drama Specialist Teacher (working closely with the Prep Deputy Head Academic), and Technicians.
- Exemplify excellent teaching and learning standards.
- Lead in curriculum design for all Performing Arts subjects, ensuring it is ambitious, inclusive, and of high quality.
- Guide future department development within the College.
- Introduce innovative initiatives and collaborative projects to maintain a diverse and inspiring curriculum that allows students to explore the subject and thrive within the department.
- Manage the Departmental Development Plan and contribute to the College’s Self Evaluation and Development Plan.
- Stay informed about the latest educational practices and advancements in your subject area.
- Maintain strong connections and regular communication with professional organizations associated with your department.
- Lead by example across all aspects of school life, serving as an outstanding role model for colleagues.
Teaching and Learning
- Oversee the teaching and learning of Performing Arts across the College.
- Ensure all department members motivate each student to realize their academic potential through enthusiastic and personalized teaching, tailored challenges, and meticulous record-keeping.
- Monitor and track the progress of all students in your department.
- Collaborate with the Deputy Head on pupil progress in Performing Arts.
- Manage examinations and assessments within the department.
- Prepare, invigilate, and evaluate internal and external tests and examinations as needed.
- Ensure that Schemes of Work are current and comprehensive.
- Develop and share Schemes of Work and resources using in-house formats.
- Oversee and proofread student reports.
- Adhere to all College policies, including those related to marking and assessment, teaching and learning, and reporting.
- Assist in covering for colleagues as necessary.
Administration and Operations
- Supervise the annual update of all departmental policies, handbooks, and documentation, including staffing, curriculum plans, Schemes of Work, timetables, job descriptions, budgets, INSET, assessments, meetings, visits, and risk assessments.
