Position: Mental Wellness Worker

The Mental Wellness Worker will report to the Area Superintendent and will operate under the leadership of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Wellness, as well as the Divisional Wellness Coordinator. This position involves collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team within the Student Services and Wellness Department of Frontier School Division. The role will closely engage with students, school support teams, families, and external partners to address needs through the provision of direct clinical services, consultation, and both professional and public education.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work.
- Eligibility for or possession of a Manitoba School Clinician certificate.
- Current registration in good standing with a relevant licensing body.
- Extensive experience providing individual and group counseling, including crisis intervention and trauma-informed practices.
- Experience with case consultation, assessments, and interventions aimed at supporting mental wellness.
- Strong understanding of First Nation and Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Being, and Doing.
- Proven competence working with multidisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external service providers to deliver services to students, families, and school communities.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act, CFS Act, and Vulnerable Persons Legislation.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated capability to research, develop, and implement innovative programs and supports for students and school communities.
- Skilled in prioritizing, structuring, and managing caseload schedules effectively to meet targeted outcomes.
- Valid Manitoba driver’s license with the ability to travel, including overnight stays and flexible work hours as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):
- Provide individual casework, group work, family support, and/or consultation based on the specific needs of the student or school to promote mental health and wellness from a holistic perspective.
- Serve as a liaison among the student, school support team, external agencies, and families.
- Keep accurate and timely written records of therapy services provided.
- Plan, support, and implement programs for students with a proactive, student-centered, and strength-based approach.
- Assist school teams with crisis response supports and resources, collaborating closely with local community and divisional resources.
