Role Overview

Spectrum International School Astana is on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced Head of Primary (Academic Vice Principal) to oversee the academic and operational growth of the Primary School.

Reporting directly to the Principal (Academic Director), the Head of Primary will be responsible for ensuring that all students receive exceptional teaching, demonstrate significant academic progress, and enjoy a well-rounded and enriching school experience. This position calls for a leader who will mentor teachers, enhance systems, and inspire innovation while fostering a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities


● Spearhead the ongoing enhancement of the Cambridge Primary program, ensuring it meets high academic standards, provides clear progression, and aligns with both national and international benchmarks.

● Promote teaching excellence through systematic lesson observations, instructional coaching, and clear academic direction, encouraging consistent and engaging classroom practices.

● Develop and implement effective academic systems (planning, assessment, and data utilization) to facilitate measurable and sustained improvements in student performance.

● Mentor and support teachers through targeted professional development, coaching, and collaborative efforts, nurturing a culture of ongoing growth and accountability.

● Ensure that students excel both academically and personally, promoting well-being, engagement, and access to meaningful extracurricular and enrichment activities.

● Collaborate closely with the Principal and leadership team to align academic goals, contribute to the overall school strategy, and guarantee uniform implementation across the Primary School.

Required Qualifications & Experience

● A minimum of 3–5 years of leadership experience in a Primary or international school environment.
● Significant experience with the Cambridge Primary Curriculum.
● A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
● Demonstrated ability to enhance teaching quality and student outcomes.
● Experience in lesson observation, coaching, and staff development.
● Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
● Full professional fluency in English.

Contract Details

● Position: Full-time
