The Position: Primary School Teacher

Job Description - Essential Requirements

• A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., UK’s PGCE, Bachelor of Education, QTS) valid in Canada, the UK, or the USA

• At least 2 years of classroom teaching experience

• Knowledge of Ontario or British Curricula

• A genuine passion for teaching and a commitment to educating the whole child

• Professional etiquette and courtesy with students, staff, and parents

• Strong communication and presentation skills

• A proactive and flexible approach to participating in school activities

• Willingness to undergo criminal background checks and child protection screening

• Suitable references from current and previous employers

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate within the framework of CSM’s objectives, curriculum, policies, and guidelines, ensuring effective implementation

• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, management, and the local community

• Participate in and contribute to assemblies, staff meetings, Parent/Teacher meetings, and planning days as scheduled

• Undertake other relevant duties that may arise from time to time

• Manage teaching materials and classroom equipment, contributing to their review and allocation within the school

• Ensure that classroom and hallway displays are well-organized and visually appealing

• Maintain accurate records within the school's data systems

• Foster professional relationships with colleagues and the school community, promoting a mutual understanding of the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning quality

• Cultivate positive relationships with parents, communicating about their children's learning and progress, while addressing special skills, talents, and challenges

• Prepare and deliver informative reports to parents in a professional manner, based on established monitoring procedures

• Encourage parental involvement by providing clear instructions on home tasks and ways parents can support their children's learning

• Treat parents respectfully and professionally at all times, following appropriate school communication channels and involving line managers when necessary

• Present to parents as requested by the Principal, such as at Parent Information Meetings or Workshops on Literacy or Math

• Collaborate with grade group partners and curriculum leaders to ensure continuity across grades and phases

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
