About This Role

Duhovka is a private high school that offers a unique blend of the Czech national curriculum alongside the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP).

Our educational philosophy is inspired by Montessori principles, focusing on inquiry, responsibility, and independent thought.

We create a welcoming and open atmosphere while setting high academic standards, equipping students for top universities both in the Czech Republic and globally, as well as for lifelong learning in an international environment.

JOB OFFER

We are in search of a dedicated and qualified IB History Teacher who is eager to become a long-term member of our international teaching team and who can also teach additional Humanities subjects (preferably Geography), based on their expertise and interests.

The ideal candidate will:

Instruct History at both Middle and High School levels, including IB DP History

Design and deliver structured, engaging, inquiry-based lessons

Enhance students' critical thinking, source analysis, and argumentation skills

Possibly teach other Humanities subjects (e.g., Geography), depending on qualifications

Prepare students for IB assessments and written assignments

Offer constructive, criteria-based feedback

Assist students in developing strong research, writing, and argumentation capabilities

Optionally engage in co-curricular programs such as CAS, Model UN, or the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Collaborate closely with colleagues from various departments and contribute to interdisciplinary learning, student mentoring, and curriculum enhancement

We highly value candidates who will participate in several key co-curricular and leadership roles:

CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) Coordinator within the IB Diploma Programme

Leader for the Model United Nations (MUN) elective

Coordinator for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

For those taking on a coordinating or leadership role, a reduction in teaching load can be arranged to reflect the additional responsibilities.

Candidate Requirements:

Native or near-native proficiency in English

Degree in History, Education, or a related discipline

Experience teaching at the secondary school level

Preferred experience in IB DP instruction

Strong classroom management and communication abilities

Capacity to inspire and intellectually engage students

Willingness to embrace Montessori-inspired principles and project-based learning

We particularly welcome applications from educators currently based in the Czech Republic or elsewhere in Europe who have experience in international or bilingual school settings. Familiarity with the Czech educational system is highly regarded.

What We Offer:

Employer-supported work permit process (fully covered costs)

Comprehensive health insurance

Full-time contract with the possibility of extension

8 weeks of paid school holidays

Additional sick leave

Continuous professional development opportunities

Various employee benefits

Supportive bilingual Czech-English staff team
