About This Role
Key Responsibilities entail: Embracing and promoting the principles and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values. Delivering the mandated curriculum with a strong command of current knowledge in the subject area. Planning and executing engaging lessons that inspire students. Developing and utilizing suitable materials and classroom settings to accommodate various learning preferences. Providing written evidence of lesson planning and preparation when requested. Maintaining and organizing records of curriculum outlines, yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, and assessment strategies. Adhering to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently. Instructing students based on their unique needs through tailored teaching methods that address diverse abilities, including late-entry students, ESL learners, those with lower academic skills, and gifted individuals. Assigning and evaluating coursework. Monitoring, documenting, and reporting on students' academic progression and achievements, using assessments to ensure the curriculum is tailored to each student's requirements. Demonstrating proficiency in the use of media and technology within the classroom. Fostering students' overall progress and well-being while offering educational guidance. Engaging with external individuals when necessary, such as officials from the Ministry of Education. Participating in appraisal and performance management processes, as well as ongoing professional development (CPD). Collaborating with colleagues to create and enhance teaching materials, resources, curricula, and pastoral care arrangements. Engaging in and leading co-curricular and extra-curricular programs as appropriate. Cultivating positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the sharing of ideas, materials, and experiences. Overseeing and ensuring safe and appropriate behavior among students. Strategizing and implementing methods to promote self-discipline and manage disruptive behavior. Modelling and encouraging cultural awareness and understanding while fostering a passion for learning. Assisting in the planning and organization of school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies. Regularly communicating with parents to promote the GEMS philosophy and core values, keeping them informed about student progress while safeguarding the confidentiality of student information. Demonstrating commitment by initiating effort beyond standard work hours when necessary. Attending staff meetings and participating in committees as needed. Carrying out additional responsibilities as directed by immediate and indirect supervisors.
