Lauremont School is on the lookout for enthusiastic and motivating individuals for the position of: Toddler Teacher (12-18 Month Maternity Leave Contract) (This role is anticipated to commence in late August 2026). Overview
Under the guidance of the Head of Toddler/Children’s House, the Toddler Teacher will work in partnership with students, parents, and fellow educators to facilitate the development of each child within the Toddler community. This is a full-time position offered as a 12-18 month contract to cover maternity leave.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Provide an educational experience that inspires students to explore their potential and uncover their best selves.
- Establish a welcoming classroom environment that reflects Lauremont School’s commitment to supporting students and their families, adhering to the motto “I am Known.”
- Encourage the growth and development of individual learners through the application of the Montessori philosophy.
- Actively engage in faculty and departmental meetings to plan, assess, and enhance the curriculum.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with teachers, staff, and parents throughout the school community.
- Participate actively and positively in the life of the school community.
#1 - Responsibilities – Classroom
- Design, organize, and deliver meaningful learning experiences in assigned areas of responsibility.
- Foster a supportive and collaborative classroom atmosphere.
- Maintain an orderly and inviting classroom that aligns with Montessori principles.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure appropriate student behavior.
- Assess and employ varied student evaluation methods tailored to individual needs.
- Professionally evaluate and communicate insights on student learning and development.
- Keep accurate and consistent records of student progress.
- Discuss student progress with parents during parent-teacher conferences and through report cards.
- Document all parent meetings and submit records to the Academic Head following established protocols.
- Maintain lesson plans and CCEYA documentation (Toddler and Children’s House 1).
- Implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs) for students with learning differences, alongside medical plans.
- Adhere to all CCEYA and York Region Health protocols.
#2 - Responsibilities – School Community
- Maintain a standard of professional conduct that embodies Montessori and International Baccalaureate principles both within and outside the classroom.
- Cultivate a collegial and supportive atmosphere with co-assistants and teachers from other grades.
- Ensure an organized and appealing school environment consistent with Montessori principles.
- Engage in community initiatives related to student development, parent education, and public relations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to assess the coherence and effectiveness of our school curriculum.
- Seek professional development opportunities that support personal growth and align with school goals.
