About This Role

Passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Enthusiastic, empathetic and committed to inclusion for all? If so, you could be the person for us!

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the support staff team of Haybrook College at their RISE Primary School provision, and make a real difference in the lives of the most vulnerable young people.

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and proactive member of support staff to join our small specialist Alternative Provision which educates up to 8 primary aged children (4-11 years old) who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school. All our pupils have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, with many pupils having additional SEND needs, such as ADHD and ASD.

The successful candidate will work closely with our small, dedicated team to create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where pupils that have been excluded from mainstream schools can thrive and be successful.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role would is for a Primary Teaching Assistant. Key responsibilities include:

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils supporting them to regulate their emotions, and promoting positive behaviour through consistent routines and clear expectations.

  • Assisting in delivering tailored learning activities, adapting teaching approaches to meet individual needs, and encouraging pupil engagement through patience, creativity and empathy.

  • A core part of the role involves de‑escalation, modelling emotional regulation, and helping pupils develop strategies to manage emotions and challenges independently.

  • Supporting the daily smooth running of the provision, carrying out administrative jobs when needed

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who is hard-working, self-motivated and enthusiastic about inclusion. This role requires: emotional resilience, flexibility, strong communication skills and a positive attitude. Experience in an SEMH/SEND or mainstream primary setting is very desirable, but a willingness to learn and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people is essential.

You will be able to work alongside teaching staff to support them in delivering the curriculum, but also have the confidence, skills and knowledge to work 1:1 or with small groups of pupils independently. You will be able to confidently adapt content and delivery of interventions in order to ensure pupils' needs are met.

You will be excellent at building strong, positive relationships with pupils and engage them with a confident and positive approach which motivates them to learn and make progress.

If you are an energetic, highly resilient and adaptable individual with excellent creativity, who can ensure challenges are met and problems are solved, then you will find this post exciting, varied and fulfilling.

WHY JOIN US?

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in pupils’ lives and help them build confidence, stability and success both now and for their future. Your hard-work and dedication will see huge rewards, quickly!

Our team is friendly, fun and welcoming and very supportive of colleagues; helping each other and mucking in on a daily basis.  Work alongside like-minded, passionate colleagues who are hard-working and enthusiastic about gaining the best outcomes for pupils; believing that every pupil deserves a second chance.

We offer:
