About This Role
Job Overview
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our Prep School team (Year 1 - Year 6). The year group will be decided in due course. The role will involve supporting the Class Teacher in facilitating student learning and ensuring pupil welfare.
Core purpose
To facilitate the learning of pupils and promote the effective development of all individuals in our learning community. Our learning ethos is based on our aim to establish a framework for pupils and teachers to be engaged and challenged, for parents to be assured and excited by the opportunities we provide to ensure that our pupils develop the attributes which will allow them to become the compassionate, curious, collaborative communicators with the courage to be the active citizens the world needs.
Professional Responsibilities:
In-Class Support
Collaborate with teachers to establish routines and expectations.
Support the teacher with individual student learning needs.
Assist the teachers to implement differentiated lesson plans.
Assist with creating engaging learning resources and displays.
Build rapport with students and promote their well-being.
Utilise effective support strategies to foster student independence.
Provide in-class access arrangements (e.g., reading, scribing).
Pre-teach or re-teach concepts as needed to small groups.
Assist teachers in monitoring progress and achievements.
Cover the class for short absences (up to 3 days) with support.
Person specification:
We are looking for a candidate who is
Fluent in spoken and written English
Genuinely passionate about working with children
Organised and has strong interpersonal skills
Able to work collaboratively with teachers
Committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
Committed to their own professional learning and contributing to the school community.
Positive, resilient and has a good sense of humour.
Desirable experience
Holds a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification.
Has a First Aid Certificate.
Is experienced working in a Primary School environment.
