About This Role

UWCSEA East is seeking a passionate and experienced Part Time Teacher of Middle School Art to join our team in August 2026.

The successful candidate will be a dedicated and flexible Art educator with a strong commitment to delivering and developing an engaging and well-considered Art programme. They should have a proven track record of inspiring students, fostering a love of Art, and guiding them toward personal creative fulfilment. A deep understanding of the unique developmental needs of 11–14 year-olds, and a passion for working with young adolescents are essential.

Beyond scheduled class time, the teacher is expected to contribute actively to department initiatives, support cross-disciplinary collaborations, and engage in broader school events. Knowledge of the local art scene is highly desirable, along with a willingness to establish partnerships with local artists and art institutions to enrich students’ learning experiences.

Please note that to apply for this role, you must have an internationally recognised qualification and reside in Singapore. You must also be readily available from August 2026.

Expectations and Standards

  • Follow the UWCSEA Professional Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Code of Conduct

  • Teach in line with the UWCSEA Teacher Standards

Person Specifications

  • A degree in Art or a related field and an internationally recognized teaching qualification or certification are expected.

  • Residency in Singapore

  • Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the Visual Arts department and broader Middle School teams.

  • Design and implement learning experiences that challenge students, support diverse learners, and align with concept-based teaching and learning principles.

  • Use the UWCSEA Learning Principles as a foundation for effective teaching and learning.

  • Develop assessments that support ongoing learning, providing timely, relevant, and constructive feedback on both formative and summative assessments.

  • Demonstrate effective classroom management, recognizing and addressing the academic, social, and emotional dimensions of student learning.

  • Maintain clear and proactive communication with parents, keeping them informed about their child’s progress and learning journey.
