About This Role

MAB ASD Achievement Assistant

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 32.5 per week, term time only + 5 INSET days

Salary: £19,948 - £21,261 (actual annual) Pay Award Pending

Are you passionate about making a real difference to the lives of autistic young people? Do you have the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to help pupils thrive, achieve and become increasingly independent? If so, we would love to hear from you.

Waseley Hills High School is seeking to appoint a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced MAB ASD Achievement Assistant to join our SEND team and work within our specialist MAB provision. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a secure understanding of autism and experience of working directly with autistic children or young people in an educational setting. You will play an important role in helping our pupils to access learning, overcome barriers, develop confidence and independence, and participate fully in school life. Working closely with the MAB Lead, SENDCo and teaching staff, you will support pupils within mainstream lessons as well as deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions. You will use autism-informed approaches to respond to individual learning, communication, sensory, social and emotional needs and help ensure that every pupil receives consistent, high-quality support.

We are looking for someone who is calm, patient, flexible and positive, who can build strong and trusting relationships with young people and who genuinely believes in their potential. You will also work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to help our pupils achieve the best possible outcomes. If you have experience of supporting autistic young people and want a rewarding role where your knowledge, skills and relationships can make a genuine difference every day, we would be delighted to receive your application.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Online checks will be carried out on shortlisted candidates and an enhanced DBS will be required for the successful candidate. All successful candidates will be required to present their birth certificate along with evidence of any name changes.

Please note that applications must be the creation of the candidate applying. While technology, including artificial intelligence, may be used to help the candidate select certain phraseology, if substantial use of AI is used, the application will be disregarded.

The completed form should be submitted by midnight on Sunday 27th September and interviews will be held on Thursday 1st October 2026.
