Purpose of the position


Te Kāreti o Mana provides young people with personalised, dynamic learning experiences. We are seeking a dedicated educator for this role, designed to provide comprehensive support for students with diverse learning needs. The primary focus is supporting literacy and numeracy development within a highly flexible timetable, working collaboratively to ensure all students are empowered to flourish.


Key Responsibilities



  • Literacy and Numeracy Learning Support: Support the assessment and identification of diverse needs using diagnostic tools and implement specialist strategies to address learning gaps.

  • Timetable flexibility and adaptability: Provide support across a non-traditional timetable that adjusts to student needs and intervention schedules.

  • Innovative teaching support: Collaborate with kaiako to adapt teaching methods and lesson plans, ensuring students can access the full NZ curriculum.

  • Whare Āhuru | Form class: Take responsibility for a form class, providing pastoral support and fostering a sense of belonging.

  • IEP management: Support the creation, implementation, and regular review of Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with students, whānau, and stakeholders.

  • Collaboration: Work within a dedicated learning support team and collaborate with the Hauora team, learning area heads, and senior leadership.


Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes



  • Qualifications: Must hold relevant teaching qualifications and be registered with the New Zealand Teaching Council.

  • Experience: Proven strengths in literacy and numeracy support, experience in learning support or special education is highly desirable.

  • Flexibility: Ability to provide effective support within an evolving or flexible timetable.

  • Support-oriented: A genuine commitment to empowering students with diverse learning needs.

  • Collaborative and organisational Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to work with various stakeholders and the ability to manage a varied schedule and documentation.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
