About This Role

Key Responsibilities:

The HQP English Language Teacher will:

  • Show a passion for supporting the holistic development of young people;

  • Lead the planning, development, implementation and review an engaging programme for learners who use English as a second language in reference to the English National Curriculum;

  • Support the arrangement of an engaging learning space;

  • Attend meetings and development sessions, as required;

  • Contribute positively to a supportive working culture;

  • Act in support of school policy;

  • Support the safe running of the school campus.


Professional Expectations:

The HQP English Language Teacher will:


  • Hold a degree level qualification and TESL certification (100 hours)

  • Be a native English language user;

  • Have a minimum of three years of post-qualification experience teaching English for the second language learners in a Bilingual setting;

  • Be able to nurture and stretch the most able whilst also making lessons accessible and enjoyable for all;

  • Be willing and able to reflect professionally in order to refine their practice;

  • Have a track record of exceptional pastoral care and be able to prioritise the happiness and wellbeing of all students;

  • Have excellent communication skills;

  • Manage their own time effectively;

  • Enjoy working as part of a talented and experienced team;

  • Have a pioneering attitude and a good sense of humour.


Child Safeguarding:

Shrewsbury International School is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Attend child protection and safeguarding training and sign a Code of Conduct;

  • Play a leading role in promoting the welfare of students;

  • Report any concerns they have for the welfare of a student to the Designated or Deputy Safeguarding Lead;

  • Report any concerns they have relating to interactions observed between adults and students to the Principal;

  • Keep professional relationships with students where personal boundaries are respected and maintained.


Requirements

  • Compliance with visa requirements for working in HK;

  • Satisfactory International Child Protection Certificate (ICPC) and Satisfactory criminal record checks prior to the start of the contract;

  • 3 signed, confidential references (one of which will be from the candidate’s current headteacher/employer) before the start of the contract;

  • Verification of original qualifications.

Compensation
