Humberston Park School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Health, Care and Pastoral Support worker. You will play a vital role in supporting pupils aged 3–19 with multiple, profound special educational needs and disabilities, and complex health care requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalised care and support for pupils with complex medical and health needs, including assistance with feeding, personal hygiene, mobility, and medical procedures (e.g., ventilation, suctioning, tracheostomy, catheterisation).
- Support the administration and recording of medication, following all relevant policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Complex Health Nurse, class teams, and external professionals to deliver high-quality care and wellbeing support.
- Develop and maintain Wellbeing Profiles and contribute to pupil progress reports.
- Facilitate access to a broad, individualised curriculum and enrich learning experiences.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, families, and staff, ensuring dignity and trust are at the heart of your practice.
About You
- Experience supporting children or young adults with multiple and complex SEND is desirable.
- Understanding of developmental, social, cognitive, and communication needs.
- Awareness of the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding legislation (e.g., KCSIE).
- Ability to use or willingness to learn Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) methods.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with high levels of care, empathy, and dignity.
- Willingness to undertake training in medical procedures and medication administration.
