Position Overview:
1. Specialisation in Food Technology
- Deliver Food Technology courses, including BTEC Hospitality, IGCSE (Food & Nutrition), and Elements.
- Collaborate with the wider Design Technology department to enhance interdisciplinary learning.
- Oversee the Food Technology room and technicians, ensuring efficient organisation and maintenance.
- Manage and coordinate extracurricular activities to enhance student engagement and promote the subject area.
- Stay current with the latest developments in Food Technology and related fields.
- Utilise ongoing assessments to inform and adapt teaching practices effectively.
- Provide consistent and constructive feedback to support student learning and progress.
2. Specialisation in Design & Technology
- Demonstrate proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), with hands-on experience using multi-axis CNC machines.
- Exhibit a strong understanding of engineering concepts and design methodologies across various disciplines.
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and contribute to IGCSE/BTEC and post-16 courses as needed.
- Facilitate a learning environment that encourages student inquiry and exploration, fostering a passion for engineering solutions.
- Provide guidance and support to students, helping them develop their skills and confidence in engineering practices.
3. Specialisation in Textile
- Teach Textiles across multiple year levels following the international curriculum
- Plan and deliver creative, inclusive, and hands-on lessons.
- Develop schemes of work and assess student progress effectively.
- Integrate practical skills, design thinking, and digital tools in textile education.
General Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a Bachelor’s degree in any subject with a Postgraduate
- Certificate/Diploma in Education (PGCE/PGDE)
- An understanding of the MYP and the key underpinnings of the curriculum frameworks is advantageous
- Newly qualified teachers or teaching experience within a recognised educational institute
IMPORTANT NOTE: The iPGCE (assessment only) does not qualify for Teacher Registration status from the Hong Kong Education Bureau, which is a crucial requirement for teaching at an ESF school.
