About This Role
Doha Academy is a growing group of British-curriculum schools situated in Qatar’s cosmopolitan and vibrant capital city Doha. Part of the Al Faleh Educational Holding Group, Doha Academy seeks to provide an outstanding, accessible and all-inclusive K-12 education based upon Islamic values.
All Doha Academy schools are nationally and internationally accredited, and are in the process of preparing for the next stage of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (“NEASC”) improvement cycle as part of their “ACE Learning” pathway.
The Role
We are now looking for an enthusiastic EAL Specialist & Literacy Lead who will teach Primary & Secondary English in the main campus, Al Waab, and spend a significant proportion of their time planning a literacy development programme for the schools to support students whose main first language is Arabic. The role will involve supporting other teachers in their development of English as a Second Language practices across the school’s curricula.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Primary & Secondary English.
- Plan a literacy development programme for students whose main first language is Arabic.
- Support other teachers in their development of English as a Second Language practices.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will ideally have experience teaching Key Stage 3, 4 or 5 English in an international school setting where children’s main language is not English. Experience also in TEFL-type settings would be an advantage.
