About This Role

GEMS American Academy in Qatar is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to become part of our Arabic / Islamic Elementary Team. The anticipated start date for this position is 01 August 2026.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Uphold and promote the ethos and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
  • Deliver the prescribed curriculum while showcasing an accurate and current understanding of the subject matter.
  • Prepare and present engaging lessons that inspire students, utilizing suitable materials and creating a classroom environment that accommodates various learning styles.
  • Provide written evidence of planning and preparation upon request, and maintain comprehensive records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and more.
  • Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
  • Instruct students according to their unique needs by employing appropriate teaching methods that cater to diverse abilities, including late entrants, ESL learners, students with lower academic performance, and those who are gifted and talented.
  • Assign and evaluate work, assess, document, and report on students’ academic development, progress, and achievements, using assessments to ensure the curriculum meets individual student requirements.
  • Exhibit proficiency in utilizing media and technology within the classroom setting.
  • Support the overall progress and well-being of students while offering guidance on educational matters.
  • Engage with external stakeholders when necessary, such as officials from the Ministry of Education.
  • Take part in appraisal and Performance Management processes and engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the preparation and development of teaching materials, resources, study courses, and pastoral arrangements.
  • Participate in and, when appropriate, lead co-curricular and extra-curricular activities within the school, fostering positive working relationships through proactive leadership and sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences.
  • Monitor and oversee appropriate and safe student behavior, implementing strategies that promote self-discipline and manage disruptive conduct.
  • Demonstrate and encourage cultural awareness and understanding while fostering a passion for learning.
  • Assist in the planning and organization of school events and functions, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and prize days.
  • Regularly communicate with parents to promote the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep them informed about their children's progress while maintaining confidentiality regarding student-related information.
  • Exhibit initiative and commitment beyond the standard workday when tasks require additional dedication.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by direct and indirect reporting line managers or supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
