About This Role
The International German School Hefei is seeking a dedicated EAL Teacher who can also instruct English, Mathematics, and Science in accordance with the Cambridge curriculum for our primary section.
Established in 2024, IGS Hefei offers a multicultural environment, blending a German-Bilingual program with an English-Cambridge stream. Our student body primarily consists of learners from German, Chinese, and Korean backgrounds, making English language acquisition vital for their educational and personal growth.
This role provides the chance to collaboratively design an EAL program, establish a comprehensive and inclusive EAL framework, and foster a language-sensitive atmosphere within the school. You will be instrumental in developing the program and promoting a culture focused on professional growth and academic creativity.
2. Deliver EAL support in small groups and/or through in-class assistance during primary years
3. Evaluate English proficiency and monitor student progress using EAL frameworks
4. Teach core subjects (English, Mathematics, or Science) in line with the Cambridge curriculum within an IB framework
5. Collaborate closely with homeroom teachers to adapt instruction for EAL learners
6. Participate in shaping the school’s language policy and contribute to teacher training initiatives
Candidate profile:
7. Qualification in English as an Additional Language (EAL/ESL/ELL) or an equivalent credential
8. Additional experience in teaching English, Mathematics, or Science at the primary level
9. Familiarity with WIDA or other EAL proficiency frameworks is highly desirable
10. Experience in curriculum development or involvement in school start-up projects is advantageous
