We are seeking a talented elementary school teacher to join our Middle School Program, focusing on Humanities for Grades 6 and 7. In this role, you will work alongside a dedicated teaching team, supporting the growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Our educational practices are rooted in a student-centered, collaborative philosophy that emphasizes inquiry-based learning, enhancing the educational journey for our students.

The successful candidate will be integrated into a vibrant and innovative school community that values personal excellence, comprehensive child development, and overall well-being. You will engage with students who display a genuine passion for learning and have the opportunity to collaborate with enthusiastic educators and leaders committed to the teaching profession. This position will run from September to March.

Responsibilities:
● Create a classroom community centered on social-emotional learning (SEL) for Grade 6 girls within a homeroom setting.
● Collaboratively develop the Grade 6 & 7 Humanities Curriculum, covering English Language Arts and Social Studies.
● Deliver engaging, interactive lessons.
● Address the diverse needs of students through careful planning and instruction, offering multiple entry points and extensions for individual learners.
● Utilize various assessment strategies to ensure timely, transparent, and strengths-based communication of learning.
● Promote a student-centered, inquiry-driven, and supportive learning culture.
● Effectively incorporate technology into teaching and learning activities.
● Communicate and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administration to enhance student learning and well-being.
● Actively engage in school life, including co-curricular activities.
● Supervise students during non-instructional times.
● Participate in broader school events like community time, student leadership opportunities, and outdoor education experiences.

Qualifications:
● B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification.
● Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
● Prior experience in a middle school teaching role is an asset.
● Knowledge of supporting diverse learning styles at the elementary level.
● A collaborative mindset and a passion for teaching.
● Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
● Demonstrated capacity to be innovative, adaptable, and organized with a keen attention to detail.
● Enthusiasm, commitment, and readiness to engage in the co-curricular program and the dynamic life of the school community.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
*Estimated range based on regional data averages.
