Position: Head of Digital Innovation (with teaching responsibilities)

Reporting to: Head of School and School Leadership Team

Salary and Benefits: A competitive salary will be provided, commensurate with the role's responsibilities and the candidate's experience. The Opportunity
Raoul Wallenberg International School (RWIS) is seeking a forward-thinking and strategic Head of Digital & Innovation to lead Digital Literacy education across designated year groups, starting in the 2026–2027 academic year.

This leadership role offers a unique opportunity to influence and enhance the school’s digital initiatives, ensuring that RWIS remains at the forefront of innovation, future-oriented, and in line with global best practices in educational technology. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of digital infrastructure, IT systems, cybersecurity, digital platforms, and technology integration, while leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive digital strategy and innovation roadmap.

As part of the middle leadership team, the Head of Digital & Innovation will be responsible for crafting the Digital Literacy curriculum, supporting the creation of co-curricular programs such as robotics and coding clubs, and facilitating the incorporation of leading-edge technologies into an engaging, inquiry-driven learning environment. While the role includes teaching Digital Literacy classes, its primary focus is on strategic planning: ensuring RWIS has the necessary systems, tools, culture, and long-term vision to foster exceptional learning and efficient school operations.

Position Scope
Digital Leadership and Management

• Direct the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the school’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and software systems.

• Ensure the security and integrity of the school's IT systems.

• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.

Systems Administration:

• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.

• Create and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.

• Ensure compliance with relevant IT policies and regulations.

• Maintain adherence to data protection standards and best practices.

Technical Support:

• Provide technical assistance to staff and students, promptly addressing hardware and software issues.

• Develop and lead training sessions to enhance IT proficiency among staff and students.

IT Strategy Development:

• Develop and implement a long-term IT strategy to keep the school at the leading edge of technological integration and advancement.

• Assist in formulating and executing the school's IT strategies.

• Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve educational delivery and administrative operations.

• Utilize a research-based approach to technology integration and AI in education.

• Oversee cybersecurity efforts to protect the school’s digital resources.

Teaching and Learning:

• Create and deliver engaging, inquiry-driven lessons in Digital Literacy and/or Design.

• Integrate project-based learning, service and experiential learning, education for sustainable development, and real-world applications into the curriculum to stimulate curiosity and critical thinking among students.

• Collaborate with teachers from other subjects to promote a cross-curricular approach and integrate concepts throughout the curriculum.

• Support the teaching staff in incorporating modern technologies that enhance teaching and learning quality.

• Advocate for inclusion and differentiation to meet diverse learner needs, ensuring all students can access the curriculum and succeed.

Curriculum Planning and Assessment:

• Develop, plan, and implement lessons in Digital Literacy that blend theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

• Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback to aid learning.

• Maintain accurate and current records of student performance and manage student data to track progress and identify improvement areas.

• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency in curriculum planning and assessment practices across various subjects and year groups.

Character Development and Values-Based Education:

• Promote character development in students by incorporating the school’s guiding principles and Class Connect Programme, fostering a sense of community and respect.

• Model and instill core values such as honesty, compassion, courage, and determination through daily teaching and interactions with students.

Collaboration and Community Building:

• Work together with colleagues across the secondary school to design, deliver, and assess interdisciplinary teaching and learning programs.

• Build meaningful connections with students, families, and the wider school community, fostering open communication and strong partnerships.

• Actively participate in the school’s professional development program and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

• This role will also involve providing extensive IT training, support, and troubleshooting for the entire school community.

Bringing Personal Passions to Life:

• Integrate your unique skills, interests, and subject expertise into the classroom and the broader school community, enriching students’ educational experiences.

• Contribute to the ASA (After School Activities) Programme by leading technology-related clubs, activities, or workshops that reflect your passions and talents.

Ideal Candidate
Qualifications and Experience:

• A degree in education with a focus on IT, Computing, or a related area, with a preference for a Master’s degree or PhD.

• At least 2-3 years of experience managing school IT systems, policies, and procedures.

• A minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience, ideally in an inquiry-based international and/or British school setting.

• Familiarity with international programs such as the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), Cambridge International Curriculum, and International Baccalaureate (DP).

• A proven track record of teaching in lower secondary education, demonstrating expertise in teaching, learning, and assessment.

• Proficient in English (fluency in Spanish, Swedish, German, or another language is advantageous).

Additional Expectations:

• Experience with educational systems such as Veracross, Toddle, and Google Workspace for Education is beneficial.
