About this Role
York House School is seeking applications from dedicated, innovative, and qualified Primary Grade Teachers who are committed to delivering an outstanding 21st Century learning experience for our students. The ideal candidate will exhibit excellence in instructional and assessment methods, possess a genuine passion for teaching, and have a solid grasp of how girls learn most effectively. This individual will be responsible for teaching Grade 2 across all core subjects and will engage in co-curricular activities that enrich the student experience at school.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education
- British Columbia Teacher’s certification or equivalent
- Familiarity with the new BC Curriculum is advantageous
- Elementary school qualification
- Experience teaching language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies
- Experience differentiating instruction, including small-group mathematics instruction and targeted early literacy intervention strategies
- Minimum of three years of elementary teaching experience
- Coaching and/or extra-curricular involvement is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Strong understanding of the BC Curriculum
- Experience with inquiry-based and/or project-based learning approaches
- Knowledge of the Reggio Emilia Approach and its application to school-age children
- Awareness of current research regarding girls and learning
- Proven track record as an enthusiastic, innovative, and caring educator
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion in all its forms
- Collaborative, adaptable, and effective team player
- Ability to foster strong professional relationships with all stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Dedication to educating the whole student
