English Teacher

Reach British School is looking to hire an exceptional, enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed English Teacher.

The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for English language and literature, with a strong commitment to crafting engaging and well-structured lessons that enhance students’ reading, writing, speaking, and analytical abilities. They will provide personalized feedback in alignment with key school policies, such as Teaching & Learning and Assessment, ensuring that students are adequately supported, challenged, and inspired to achieve outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and planning frameworks (LTPs, MTPs, and STPs).
- Foster students’ reading comprehension, writing skills, vocabulary development, and critical thinking.
- Structure lessons effectively to maintain pace, challenge, and engagement.
- Ensure that learning objectives are clear and comprehensible to students.
- Differentiate instruction to motivate and challenge all students individually and in groups.
- Create opportunities for discussion, debate, creative writing, and analytical thinking.
- Cultivate a love of reading by exposing students to a diverse range of literary works and genres.
- Assist students in honing their communication and presentation skills.
- Assign meaningful and engaging homework that reinforces and extends learning.
- Implement peer and self-assessment strategies to encourage reflection and improvement.
- Manage behavior and resources efficiently within the classroom.
- Exemplify high expectations and encourage positive behavior in accordance with school policy.
- Tailor teaching methods to accommodate all learners, including students of determination (SEN) and EAL students.
- Ensure students grasp key literary terms, language conventions, and writing techniques.
- Incorporate SMSC development, reflecting creativity, innovation, and enterprise in lesson planning.
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas and opinions.

AMAR: Academic Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting
- Conduct accurate formative and summative assessments and facilitate moderation as needed.
- Utilize assessment data effectively to guide lesson planning and promote student progress.
- Provide systematic, meaningful, and age-appropriate personalized feedback.
- Complete individualized reports in accordance with the school’s Assessment and Reporting Policy.

Person Specification
Candidates must demonstrate:
- A minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in the UK or within a British Curriculum school.
- Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum for England (English) and current assessment practices.
- Effective classroom management skills and the ability to engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
- Experience with data systems, student tracking, intervention strategies, and reporting.
- A dedication to exceptional teaching and learning.
- Proficiency in using IT and digital tools to enhance educational experiences.
- A readiness to build strong relationships with parents.
- A collaborative spirit in supporting whole-school initiatives and the school improvement cycle.
