Role Statement:

The Primary Visual Arts Specialist will report to the Head of Primary and will work in partnership with the Deputy Heads of Primary to provide an exceptional Visual Arts program for primary students at the school. This role will involve close collaboration with both Primary and Secondary Visual Arts teaching staff.

Essential Criteria:

· Relevant tertiary qualifications in Visual Arts education.

· Proven experience as a successful Primary Visual Arts teacher.

· Familiarity with and understanding of the ACARA The Arts curriculum for Years R-6.

· In-depth knowledge of Visual Arts and a well-developed understanding of the visual arts practice within the Australian context.

· Strong interpersonal skills – capable of effective planning, decision-making, and collaboration with professional colleagues, engaging in curriculum development, participating in professional reading, and actively seeking new teaching methodologies.

· A demonstrated ability to create highly engaging visual arts experiences tailored to individual needs, along with experience in assessing such programs.

· Advanced technology skills and a willingness to enhance those skills.

· A passionate, knowledgeable, and proactive educator committed to well-being practices and positive psychology in education (i.e., PROSPER).

Responsibilities:

The Primary Visual Arts teacher will be tasked with, but not limited to, the following duties:

· A commitment to student well-being.

· Planning, implementing, and teaching the Visual Arts program for primary years.

· Sequentially organizing visual arts skills and planning experiences that align with students’ development. Wherever feasible, cross-curricular connections should be incorporated into the school's program.

· Employing a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and individual differences.

· Delivering artistic learning experiences that utilize technology and innovative approaches.

· Designing and showcasing specialized instructional strategies and techniques.

· Engaging students in artistic experiences that enable them to explore ideas, develop artistic skills, and respond to works created by others.

· Utilizing a variety of assessment methods that are fair, inclusive, and appropriate.

· Promoting and celebrating Primary art through school displays and art exhibitions.

· Collaborating with the Head of Primary and other members of the Visual Arts team to manage visual arts equipment and supply orders.

· Acting ethically, embodying positivity, demonstrating a growth mindset, and contributing to the school’s ethos and community life.

· Undertaking teaching responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Primary.

· Performing any additional tasks as may be requested by the Head of School.

Compensation

HK$608,472 - HK$1,054,812 per year (Two year contracts with 21% gratuity at completion of contract agreement, provided with medical insurance, and relocation allowance and benefits. Teacher salary scale based on 15 steps from Step 1 HK608,472 to Step 15 HKD1,054,812 per year.)
