About the Science Department and Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Science to lead our energetic Science faculty, which includes 8 committed teachers and two proficient technicians. Our department features seven well-equipped laboratories, two preparation rooms, and a wealth of resources designed to enhance innovative teaching.

Students study Biology, Chemistry, and Physics from Years 7 to 11. Our Key Stage 3 curriculum is adapted from the English National Curriculum, and we provide Pearson Edexcel Dual and Triple Award IGCSE courses for Years 10 and 11. For the IBDP, we offer Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and beginning August 2024, Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS).

Our department is pioneering the integration of metacognitive thinking skills into both theoretical and practical lessons. As part of the Nord Anglia Education family, we benefit from unique collaborations with global partners such as MIT, UNICEF, and Juilliard, enriching our STEAM activities, global competitions, and trips, including opportunities to visit MIT.

About You

You are a forward-thinking educator who sets high expectations for students and cultivates a passion for learning. Additionally, you must be able to meet visa-related requirements for Poland.

Your qualifications

• An honours degree in a relevant subject area.

• UK QTS (or equivalent teaching qualification).

• Demonstrated experience teaching in an English-speaking school setting.

Your skills and abilities

• A true enthusiasm and drive for education, especially in an international context.

• A strong sense of personal integrity and professionalism.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate students.

• High proficiency in utilizing technology for educational and administrative purposes.

• A collaborative approach and adaptability to support the broader school community.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee the management of the Science Department.

• Design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for KS3, IGCSE, and IBDP students.

• Create an inclusive and positive learning atmosphere that promotes personal and academic development.

• Collaborate on curriculum development, assessment frameworks, and departmental initiatives.

• Integrate Nord Anglia’s distinctive resources and global partnerships into your teaching.

• Actively engage in school activities, including the LEAP co-curricular program, events, and supervision responsibilities.

• Maintain open lines of communication with parents and contribute to academic evaluations.

• Participate in professional development and promote lifelong learning.

• Serve as a Form Tutor to assist students in their personal and academic growth.

• Fulfill active supervision and lesson cover duties as necessary.
