About the Role:

Brighton College (Singapore) is on the lookout for an inspiring Teacher of Economics and Business to join our growing school community starting August 2026. This role presents a unique chance to lead and influence the academic direction of the Senior School in Economics and Business, as we transition from a top-tier Preparatory School to one of the region's premier all-through institutions, catering to students from Pre-Nursery through Year 13.

What you will be doing:


Oversee all elements of Economics and Business education within the Senior School, ensuring exceptional standards of teaching, learning, and academic enhancement.


Be accountable for the teaching, progress, and achievement of all Year 12 students in Economics and Business from August 2026, expanding this responsibility to Year 13 as the school evolves.


Collaborate with the Head of Maths to provide instruction and assistance to students in Key Stage 3 Maths.


Lead curriculum planning and implementation for Key Stage 5, including preparation for the inaugural A-level Economics and A-level Business cohorts starting in Year 12 in August 2026.


Manage all aspects of assessment, tracking, and reporting, ensuring that students are equipped to achieve outstanding academic results in both subjects.


Exhibit the experience and proficiency necessary to teach Economics and Business effectively at the A-level.


Serve as an exemplary classroom educator, demonstrating best practices, analytical reasoning, and high expectations in both teaching and learning.


Establish robust mechanisms for departmental self-evaluation and ongoing improvement, ensuring that teaching aligns with current best practices and real-world applications within the Economics and Business curricula.


Design, lead, and manage a comprehensive co-curricular program, which includes clubs, competitions, and enrichment activities to foster financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving skills among IGCSE and Sixth Form students.


Create and coordinate an annual schedule of Economics and Business events, such as workshops, conferences, and competitions, working collaboratively with colleagues throughout the school.


Assist and mentor students applying to prestigious universities and business-related programs, including Oxford, Cambridge, and other top institutions.


Prepare students thoroughly for both internal and external competitions, including Olympiads, business challenges, and enterprise contests.


Work closely with the Heads of EAL and AEN to develop customized support pathways for students needing additional assistance.


Contribute to the school's pastoral system and serve as a Sixth Form tutor.


Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding.


Complete any other reasonable management requests in line with the school's mission, vision, and values.

Who we are looking for:


A Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Business, along with a PGCE or equivalent qualification.


In-depth knowledge or experience in successfully teaching Economics A-level and Business A-level.


Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Experience in an international school setting (preferred).

Possesses an international perspective and an understanding of working in diverse settings.
