Reports to: Head of Inclusion (SENCO) / Leadership Team

Brookes Moscow, a distinguished international school renowned for its strong global educational influence, is currently seeking applications for the position of Occupational Therapist.

The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in enhancing students' involvement in school activities by focusing on improving motor skills, self-regulation, sensory integration, executive functioning, and fostering independence. This professional collaborates closely with teachers, the SENCO, families, and external specialists to create and implement interventions that are aligned with the school’s inclusive philosophy and the requirements of the American curriculum.

Core responsibilities include providing direct interventions, consulting with staff, writing reports, modifying environments, recommending adaptive tools, and delivering training on their application.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform in-depth assessments of students’ fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, handwriting, regulation, functional participation, coordination, and executive functioning abilities.

• Create tailored OT intervention plans informed by data, classroom observations, and discussions with the SENCO and teachers.

• Conduct focused therapy sessions (either one-on-one or in small groups) that target sensory integration, self-regulation strategies, motor planning, handwriting skills, and functional skills relevant to the classroom.

• Equip teachers with effective strategies to address sensory needs, manage seating arrangements, facilitate transitions, regulate attention, and organize tasks.

• Develop sensory diets and classroom support strategies for students who require modifications throughout the school day.

• Engage in case meetings, contribute to Individualized Support Plans (ISPs), monitor progress, and participate in multidisciplinary discussions.

• Guide parents on exercises, motor skill enhancement, and sensory strategies to use at home; facilitate workshops as needed.

• Assist students during transitions (arrival, breaks, and moving between classrooms) to encourage independence and minimize stress.

• Keep precise session notes, assessment reports, progress documentation, and safety records.

• Provide recommendations to the school regarding equipment necessities (adaptive tools, sensory room supplies, alternative seating options, OT materials).

• Participate in safeguarding initiatives and ensure that all interventions adhere to ethical and professional standards.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy; full professional certification/licensure is required.

• At least 2–3 years of clinical or school-based OT experience (experience in international or bilingual settings is preferred).

• Comprehensive understanding of sensory integration frameworks, executive functioning strategies, handwriting development, and motor skill acquisition.

• Experience working with students diagnosed with autism, ADHD, DCD/dyspraxia, and challenges related to self-regulation.

• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, psychologists, and families in a multidisciplinary environment.

• Exceptional skills in communication, documentation, and case management.

• Proficient in conducting functional assessments pertinent to school performance.

• High emotional intelligence, a calm demeanor, and strong problem-solving skills.

• Fluent in English; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.

Compensation
