About This Role

Job Purpose

The Whole School Curriculum Coordinator is essential in providing both strategic and operational leadership in the development, implementation, evaluation, and assessment of the curriculum across all divisions of the school. This role ensures that the curriculum meets international best practices, adheres to NEASC accreditation standards, aligns with American educational frameworks, and fulfills the requirements of the Advanced Placement (AP) program.

To support the school's mission, the Coordinator promotes high academic expectations, emphasizes student-centered learning, fosters college readiness, and nurtures a culture of continuous improvement. This position collaborates closely with school leadership, faculty, and academic departments to ensure curriculum coherence, uphold academic standards, and maintain alignment with American educational guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Curriculum Leadership

  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the comprehensive school curriculum framework in line with NEASC standards and best practices in American education.
  • Ensure vertical alignment across different grade levels and horizontal alignment across various subject disciplines.
  • Facilitate the integration of Advanced Placement (AP) courses with the expectations established by the School Board.
  • Promote consistency among curriculum, instruction, assessment, and overall school learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with divisional leaders to ensure curriculum continuity and development from Early Childhood through High School.

American Curriculum and AP Program Development

  • Oversee curriculum mapping to verify alignment with American academic standards and college readiness criteria.
  • Assist AP teachers with curriculum design, pacing, and execution according to the School Board’s course frameworks.
  • Monitor the quality and rigor of AP courses to ensure adherence to the School Board program requirements.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the AP program, supporting audit processes, course authorization, and program evaluations.
  • Encourage advanced academic pathways to ensure students are well-prepared for AP coursework.

Teaching and Learning Excellence

  • Support faculty and academic leaders in developing standards-based instructional planning and delivery.
  • Foster student-centered, differentiated, and inquiry-based teaching methodologies.
  • Provide instructional coaching and facilitate professional development aligned with school improvement objectives and accreditation standards.
  • Encourage the integration of 21st-century skills, critical thinking, research competencies, and academic writing across all subjects.
  • Assist in the effective incorporation of educational technology in teaching and learning strategies.

Assessment, Data, and Continuous Improvement

  • Manage assessments that align with standards set by American curriculum expectations and AP assessment criteria.
  • Aid faculty in crafting high-quality formative and summative assessments to evaluate student mastery and progress.
  • Examine both internal and external assessment data (including AP scores, standardized testing, and internal benchmarks) to evaluate curriculum efficacy.
  • Guide faculty in implementing data-informed strategies to enhance student achievement and academic outcomes.

Accreditation and Compliance

  • Lead and support curriculum alignment with NEASC accreditation standards, particularly concerning teaching and learning, student assessments, and program effectiveness.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of the curriculum, including scope and sequence, curriculum maps, and assessment frameworks.
  • Assist in NEASC self-study processes, accreditation visits, action planning, and ongoing improvement initiatives within the school.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements, apply via the WhatSchool platform.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
